Hornets place second at Fort Zumwalt North wrestling Tournament

O'FALLON - Sparked by six first-place individual showings, Fulton totaled 160.5 points to earn second place at the Fort Zumwalt North Tournament on Saturday.

Warrenton scored 172 points to claim the team championship.

Freshman Tucker Caswell won via an 8-2 decision over Battle High School's Andrew Shea to garner gold at 106 pounds. Sophomore Devan Hudson beat Garrett Vancil of Fort Zumwalt North in a 10-0 major decision to finish first at 120 pounds.

Sophomore Brandon Dews pinned Cameron Pickering of Fort Zumwalt North in 47 seconds to earn first place at 126 pounds. Junior Josh McClure claimed first place at 138 pounds after pinning Battle's Tate Dempsey 3:09 into the championship bout.

Junior Zach Benner posted a 10-0 major decision over Mohamed El-Walid to secure first place at 195 pounds, while junior Clayton Bristol pinned Denez Bradford of Battle :00 into the final match to prevail at 285.

Sophomore Luke Berrey finished second at 160 pounds after falling to Mehlville's Kyle Kaletka via a 10-1 major decision in the championship match. Junior Trenton Clines earned a 7-0 decision over Mehlville's RJ Hutson to take third place at 152 pounds.

Senior Noah Braun placed fourth at 170 pounds after falling to Ft. Zumwalt North's Derek Schwartz 1:54 into the third-place bout. Senior Austin Anderson finished sixth at 220 after bowing to McClure's Demetrius Thomas 1:56 into the fifth-place match.

The Hornets open North Central Missouri Conference competition with a dual at Boonville at 6 tonight.
