William Woods tops Hannibal-LaGrange, runs win streak to seven

Junior forward Nia Lateju tallied 17 points to pace four Lady Owls in double figures in Thursday night's 72-55 American Midwest Conference triumph over the Lady Trojans at Anderson Arena.

William Woods University (7-1, 3-0 AMC) led 37-20 at halftime, riding that advantage to its sixth straight victory.

Lateju finished 7-of-11 from the floor, while supplying four rebounds and blocking two shots. Senior guard Blake French and sophomore forward Kennedy Volkart logged 13 points apiece and senior guard Destani Stensrud finished with 10.

The Lady Owls shot 48 percent (27-of-56) from the field and committed 19 turnovers, while claiming a 37-28 edge on the boards behind junior guard Marissa Webb's game-high seven rebounds. William Woods scored 22 points off 23 turnovers by Hannibal-LaGrange University.

The Lady Trojans (1-6, 1-2) received a game-high 24 points from Ashleigh Hurd-Spencer, while Sarah Cline added 15. Hannibal-LaGrange shot 42 percent (23-of-55) as a team.

The Lady Owls travel to Williams Baptist for an AMC contest at 2 p.m. Saturday.
