Lady Hornets bow to Centralia in volleyball opener

Freshman outside hitter Kate Pani paced the Fulton Lady Hornets with four kills and two aces in a 25-19 and 25-20 loss to the Centralia Lady Panthers in Tuesday night's season opener at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

Senior setter Kat Berrey also provided five assists for Fulton, while junior outside hitter Madison Droeste added three digs.

"For our first home game, I think we were a little nervous and have another level of play that people haven't seen yet," Lady Hornets first-year head coach Coleman Lee said. "It was nice to have a couple of the newcomers step up; Kate Pani played well, but we all just didn't have it going tonight."

The Lady Hornets dropped the junior varsity match 25-10 and 25-21.

Fulton opens North Central Missouri Conference play at Marshall at 5 p.m. Thursday.
