Fulton resident Erin Rinehart's blueberry-raspberry pie was awarded second place in the fruit pie division of the Missouri State Fair's First Lady's Pie Contest last week. Her husband pushed her to enter the contest.
Rinehart said she did not think she would place and almost didn't enter the contest. This was her first time entering a contest at the Missouri State Fair.
Rinehart said she likes making any kind of pie. She chose to enter the pie that she did because her family enjoys her berry pies. She also choose a berry pie because for Rinehart, berry pies bring back memories.
"My mother used to make blackberry cobblers," Rinehart said. "I kind of like making that (berry pie) because it's like what she used to make."
Rinehart went to the Fair with her husband and daughter, Evelyn, 3. Rinehart said her daughter was excited to see her pie win.
Rinehart and her husband have lived in Fulton about 10 years.
