South Callaway girls claim championships at Owensville Relays

OWENSVILLE -Senior Taylor Howard won two events and took second in two others as the Lady Bulldogs secured the team championship at the Owensville Relays last Friday.

In the boys' division, senior Garner Rudroff triumphed in the long jump and was second in the triple jump as South Callaway finished eighth overall.

Howard was victorious in the 100 and 400 meters with respective times of 13.11 seconds and 1:01.11 as the South Callaway girls accumulated 131 points. She also came in second in both the 800 (2:36.61) and pole vault (9 feet).

Junior Hannah Oberdiek also logged a first-place finish for the Lady Bulldogs in the long jump (17-1) and finished second in the 100 (:13.12). She was also a member of the 400 relay - along with seniors Bailey Ward and Paige Brown, and junior Alexis Wetherell - that prevailed in :52.25.

Junior Sarah Jennings won the high jump (5-0) and placed second in the triple jump (33-3). Ward finished fourth in the 100 hurdles (:18.08) and was a member of the 800 relay - joining Brown, Jennings and Wetherell - that took second in 1:52.71.

Senior Abigail Luebbert, sophomores Dariyn Finney and Amanda McDonald and freshman Caitlyn Chapman placed fourth in the 3,200 relay in 11:23.1. Senior Karli Leeper was also fourth in the shot put (32-4) and Luebbert came in fifth in the 1,600 in 5:58.65.

Rudroff won the long jump in 21-8 and was second in the triple jump at 43-2 as the South Callaway boys posted 45 points. Senior Josh Brooks finished second in the discus (132-8), while senior Terry Miles took third in the high jump (5-8) and fifth in the 800 (2:05.95).

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs host their own South Callaway Relays at 4 p.m. Friday.
