Bulldogs golf team takes third place at Palmyra

Sophomore Logan Taylor shot a 77 to lead the South Callaway Bulldogs golf team to a third-place finish in the Palmyra Tournament on Wednesday.

Freshman Blake Parker was next with a 79 for South Callaway, which compiled a 346 team score. Palmyra secured the team championship with a 302 and Louisiana - sparked by medalist Justin Lenz's 3-over par 73 - was a distant second with a 322.

SAUGET, Ill. - The Blue Jays dropped to 17-11 overall and 11-9 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after being swept by the second-ranked Gorloks in Wednesday's doubleheader.

Westminster College - which had won two in a row coming into Wednesday - was blanked on six hits in the opener. Freshman designated hitter Tyler Picha went 2-for-3 to guide the Blue Jays, while freshman catcher Tanner Branneky finished 1-for-1 and walked twice.

Sophomore starter Will Miller lasted just an inning in being tagged with the loss for Westminster. Miller (3-3) surrendered four runs - three earned - on just two hits, walked three and struck out none.
