Hornets flattened by Fatima, drop fourth in a row

— Fulton gave up 11 runs in the fourth inning — including seven with two outs — in falling to the Fatima Comets 14-3 in five innings on Monday.

The Hornets (8-6) went on top with two outs in the first on senior first baseman Tyler Echelmeier’s RBI single to left field to drive in freshman pinch-runner Devin Masek.

The Comets took the lead with three runs in the bottom of that inning, tying the game when junior second baseman Sam Hager reached on an error, then going in front on an RBI single by junior catcher Zach Hudspeth. Junior shortstop Jared Schulte upped Fatima’s advantage to 3-1 with an RBI single to drive in Hager.
