Bulldogs bump off T-Birds for Montgomery County title

South Callaway junior center fielder Cory Hanger led off the game with a home run and the Bulldogs set the tone with a four-run top of the first inning in cruising to a 12-2, six-inning win over North Callaway in the Montgomery County Tournament championship game on Saturday evening.

"When you score early, it's a lot easier to play loose," Bulldogs head coach Heath Lepper. "We're finally starting to play well together. ... The players are starting to figure out what their roles are individually and they're having fun."

Jones earns four golds

for MSD at Berg-Seeger

DANVILLE, Ky. - Missouri School for the Deaf senior Nick Jones triumphed in four events, set two meet records and was named the best overall track and field athlete at the Berg-Seeger Classic on Saturday.

Jones' first-place time of 11.11 seconds in the 100 broke the meet's previous high while his winning distance of 21 feet, 8.5 inches in the long jump also set a new standard. He topped the field in the 400 in :51.51 and prevailed in the 200 with a time of :22.77.

Fulton's Washington wins triple jump,

shot put at Blair Oaks Relays

WARDSVILLE - Senior Maddie Washington claimed the top prizes in the triple jump and shot put as the Lady Hornets finished fourth at the Blair Oaks Relays on Saturday.

Washington collected first place in the triple jump with a long of 32 feet, 3 inches while her best toss of the shot put traveled 35-6. The Fulton girls finished with 83 points. Helias prevailed in the girls' team standings.

Senior Hayley Tobias earned second place in both hurdling events. Tobias ran the 110-meter race in a time of :17.5 and finished the 300 in :52.7.

Sophomore Madi Tobias placed third in the high jump with a leap of 4-8 and sophomore Elli Rowden cleared the pole-vault bar at seven feet to take third in that event. The 4x100-meter relay team of Rowden, Washington and sophomores Rachel Guse' and Alanya Lawson finished third with a time of :54.9.
