Siren in Fulton Wednesday night a false alarm

Fulton residents may have heard an emergency siren Wednesday night, but there was no cause for alarm - just the Fulton State Hospital experiencing technical difficulties.

According to Callaway County EMA social media, "the sirens that were sounding inside the city limits of Fulton WERE NOT TORNADO SIRENS. It was a siren that the state hospital has in place in case of an emergency there."

The post goes on to state that it was an accidental activation of the siren and "there are no concerns or issues to report at this time."

Attempts to contact Callaway Emergency Management Director Michelle Kidwell for more details were not successful.
