Fayette Fulton freshman Brandon Dews took second place in both the boys’ 800 and 1,600 meters Friday night, helping steer the Hornets to a fifth-place team finish at the Fayette Relays.
In the girls’ division, senior Hayley Tobias took second in both the 100 meters and 100 hurdles — as well as third in the 300 hurdles — as Fulton came in sixth overall.
Dews posted respective times of 2 minutes, 14.68 seconds and 5:02.38 in the 800 and 1,600 as the Fulton boys accumulated 61.5 points. He was also part of the 3,200 relay — along with sophomore Luke Lohmeyer and juniors Ian Shoemaker and Grant Gaines — that finished third in 9:44.36.
Other top finishers for the Hornets included Gaines, second in the 3,200 (10:44.40); junior Sam Christensen, third in the 110 hurdles (:17.35) and tied for fourth in the high jump (5 feet, 6 inches), and junior Connor Foote, fourth in the 400 (:55.13).
Tobias clocked in at :13.58 in the 100 and :16.53 in the 100 hurdles, while recording a time of :51.40 in the 300 hurdles as the Fulton girls tallied 59 points.

wins 110, 300 hurdles at Mexico
MEXICO — Junior Steven Coleman broke his own school record in winning the 110-meter hurdles and added a victory in the 300 hurdles to pace the Thunderbirds in last Tuesday’s meet.
On the girls’ side, senior Jaida Gray prevailed in the 400, took second in the 200 and finished third in the 100 to lead the Ladybirds.
