The Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Holts Summit has few child attendees, but it still wants to show children a good time during its annual Family Fun Day, which will take place 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.
"This is at least our eighth year," said Joycelyn Dowdy, a member of the group that organizes the event. "We do it for the community and try to have something different each year."
This year, that "something different" is four horses that will be available for children to ride and a wagon pulled by mules. Other activities will include hair coloring, face painting, LEGOs, a double-lane slide and more. In past years, the church has put on a petting zoo and pony rides.
Free food will also be available. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and snow cones will be served.
"We love having them [families] and showing them a good time," Dowdy said.
Cedar Grove Baptist Church is located on the east access road off Highway 54, near the J&K Plaza in Holts Summit. The event is free and open to the public.
