Auxvasse Police Chief Kevin Suedmeyer is the recipient of the Fulton Rotary Club's 2013 G.W. Law Award.
Dozens of law enforcement officials, first responders and Rotary members filled the Fulton Country Club on Wednesday for the banquet and awards ceremony where Suedmeyer received the honor. Rotary President, Fulton Chief of Detectives and fellow G.W. Law nominee Andre Cook started the ceremony off by saying the annual honor recognizes Callaway County law enforcement officers for exhibiting the Rotary's motto: "Service above self."
"I'm humbled to get this ... but this is not something I've done by myself," Suedmeyer said, noting his department relies on the Callaway County Sheriff's Office and Fulton Police Department, as well as agencies in Audrain County. "I'll accept this on behalf of law enforcement in Callaway County, but I didn't do this by myself."
A St. Louis native, Suedmeyer began his career in law enforcement with the Columbia Police Department in 1999. He transferred to Auxvasse in 2002 as a patrolman before working his way up to chief.
