Bartley, Lady Bulldogs shutout Lady Hornets

Senior works out of jam, preserves 4-0 win

South Callaway softball coach David Odneal wants senior pitcher Abby Bartley to remember three definitive words when she’s on the mound.

I’m. In. Charge.

She was, indeed, against the Fulton Lady Hornets.

Bartley pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up two hits, striking out eight and walking three in the Lady Bulldogs’ 4-0 win over the Lady Hornets on Tuesday night at Fulton’s athletic complex.

Still, when asked about her own performance, Bartley preferred to differentiate between the overall effort and the final three outs.

“I thought I did OK today,” Bartley said. “… Seventh inning, I don’t know, I just got nervous. End of the game, that little 3-4-5 spot (in the Lady Hornets’ lineup) made me nervous.”
