After allegedly robbing Kaldi's Coffee in Columbia at gunpoint earlier this month, a Fulton pastor is held in the St. Louis Jail following charges stemming from a separate robbery there that occurred Oct. 10.
Anthony Paine, 48, was arrested by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for second degree robbery.
According to a probable cause statement, Paine allegedly pushed a victim against a car in the 3500 block of Washington Street that evening, put his elbow to the victim's neck and demanded money. The statement says he left the scene with the victim's wallet.
A judge issued a $10,000 cash-only bond.
The Columbia Police Department recently identified Paine as its suspect in the Oct. 4 Kaldi's robbery at gunpoint. CPD sent out a release stating that a male suspect entered the store through a back door after an employee had opened it for a coworker, pointed a handgun at the employee and demanded money before fleeing on foot towards the garage at Cherry and Eighth streets.
According to both the St. Louis probable cause statement and online court records at Missouri Case.net, Paine has several past convictions for burglary, larceny, fraud and receiving stolen property running from 1987 to 2003.
Second Christian Church pastor Rev. Cedric Harris confirmed that Paine is an associate pastor of the church.
"If he gets proven guilty he will be removed at that point, but we are leaving him as innocent until proven guilty," Harris said.
