Serve undergoes board change

Every year, the Board of Directors for Serve, Inc. meets in Sept. to select new officers - and this year there was a slight shake-up.

The only remaining officer from the previous year was Charles Williams, who will continue as secretary. Lauren Vessell was selected as the new vice president, Kim Barnes became the treasurer, and Fulton Police Chief Steve Myers has taken over as president.

"I was honored to be elected," said Myers, who has been on the board for four years.

Kim Barnes was also excited about Myers' appointment.

"He's probably our most senior board member right now," Barnes said. "He's already done a lot of good, and I'm looking forward to working with him. I think his leadership will be valuable."

With this new set of officers comes a slew of new ideas and plans for the coming year. Plans for 2013 include installing new, bigger freezers at the food pantry, continued expansion of the Clothes Cupboard and more fundraising efforts.
