SERVE accepting applications for Adopt-a-Family

It is billed as "the most wonderful time of the year," but some Callaway County families need a little help ensuring Christmas is a happy one for their children.

Those who are in need of some of the help this year have until Oct. 30 to enroll in SERVE, Inc.'s Adopt-a-Family program.

Program coordinator Julie Roark, director of the Callaway Action Network, said the enrollment process should be a little easier this year, with a push toward online applications - available through the SERVE website at www.serveinc.net or on the SERVE Facebook page. She said everything will now be done online with the exception of providing supporting documentation for social security number verification, income eligibility and proof of Callaway residency.

Central Missouri Community Action, located at 610 Collier Lane in Fulton, has agreed to open its computer lab from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. on Wednesdays for families needing to fill out an Adopt-a-Family application.

To help the tornado-stricken people of Dumas and surroundings, donations can be made to the Delta Area Disaster Relief Fund, care of the Delta Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 894, Dumas, AR, 71639, or through the Arkansas Community Foundation, 700 S. Rock St., Little Rock, AR, 72202.
