A Columbia man living in Fulton has been arrested on an outstanding warrant for child pornography charges Tuesday.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department arrested Jarrod D. Hoffman, 40, was arrested on charges of possessing child pornography, filed against him Nov. 22 by the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Hoffman was a Columbia resident at the time of his alleged offenses, but had since moved to Fulton.

The investigation leading to this arrest began in mid-August 2013 when an investigator with the Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force downloaded child pornography from a home computer network believed to be in the Columbia area. The computer connection was traced to a specific residence and on Aug, 30, and a court ordered search warrant was served at a Columbia residence. As a result computers and various electronic media were seized. During subsequent examinations of the electronic devices, more 30 videos depicting the sexual molestation of children - some as young as toddlers - were allegedly recovered and as a result of the ongoing investigation Hoffman was identified as a suspect.

Hoffman was arrested at the Boone County Sheriff's Department where he had contacted investigators. As of the time of a press release sent from the department, the suspect is in the Boone County Jail pending the posting of a $20,000 bond.
