Blue Jays to play NCAA opener against Carleton

The Westminster Blue Jays will face the Carleton College Knights in the first round of the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament as was announced on Monday. The Blue Jays - one of 61 teams in the field - will play on Nov. 15 at the Gustavus Soccer and Track Complex in Saint Peter, Minn.

The Blue Jays (11-8-1) earned its way into the tournament with a 2-1 win over Webster in the finals of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer tournament on Friday. It's the program's first tournament championship and second-ever bid in the NCAA tournament. Westminster last made the field in 2002.

The Knights (12-2-3) secured its spot with a 2-1 win over Saint John's in the finals of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday.
