Our House to host second holiday dinner at Westminster College

On Dec. 15, Callaway County residents will be able to enjoy a warm meal that will help give the county's homeless population a warm bed.

Our House: Caring for Callaway's Homeless will host their second annual Holiday Dinner at Backer Dining Hall, beginning 6 p.m. with a social hour, cash bar and silent auction. The meal will be served at 7 and entertainment will follow.

Last year's inaugural event was served at Beks, but the event's success made Our House Director Brad Sheppard look for a larger venue at Westminster College.

"We had around 150 people at least, and we raised just over $10,000," he said. "Last time we had to do two seatings and two time periods, so that's what's nice about this; we're doing the one seating."

Tickets are $35 and are on sale now at Bank Star One, Beks, the Chamber of Commerce, Well Read and by calling (573) 642-6065.

The menu, served by Westminster's catering Fresh Ideas, includes grilled chicken with lemon sage butter sauce, salad, potatoes, vegetables, rolls, dessert and drink.
