MOKANE - The state-ranked South Callaway Bulldogs stormed past the Lutheran (St. Peters) Cougars and are now ready for the sequel.
Junior quarterback Troy Hentges threw two touchdown passes and also ran for a score Thursday night as second-seeded South Callaway demolished No. 7 Lutheran 54-0 in the first round of Class 2, District 6 play.
The Bulldogs (9-1) will now host Montgomery County (9-1) in a semifinal showdown at 7 p.m. next Wednesday. The third-seeded Wildcats advanced with a 24-14 victory over No. 6 North Callaway on Thursday night.
South Callaway handed Montgomery County its only loss of the season in a 20-0 shutout in Mokane on Oct. 25.
