Lions Club to host antique tractor pull

On June 1, the New Bloomfield Lions Club will be hosting an antique tractor pull at the Lions Club Field in New Bloomfield.

Starting at 6 p.m., the event will feature eleven classes based on the weight pulled by each tractor. The classes begin at 3,250 pounds, and range to 10,000 pounds. The cost for each "hook" is $12, and competitors may enter as many classes as they wish. Trophies will be awarded in all classes.

Featured tractors will include makes from John Deere Ford, Minneapolis-Moline, International, Case and more. There is no age requirement for tractors entered, but they must fall into the antique category.

"Last year we had about 150 tractors," said Keith Thomas, a member of the Lions Club and regular attendee of the event.

This event is one of two held each year - one in the fall and one in the spring, and has been running for over 20 years.
