Patrol crackdown nets 2 DWI arrests

During a special Missouri State Highway Patrol impaired driver enforcement effort Saturday in Callaway County, two people were arrested for driving while intoxicated and 16 others were warned, ticketed or arrested for other offenses.

The patrol's saturation enforcement efforts are financed by federal grants to pay overtime costs in order to place additional troopers on the road during the crackdown.

Sgt. Paul Reinsch of the patrol said 31 vehicles were stopped during the enhanced enforcement effort. He said the patrol recorded one DWI arrest for every 15 vehicles stopped.
