During the first warm days of spring each year, the asphalt driveway paving scam returns to Callaway County.
Sgt. Bill Akers of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office said the same scamming crew from the Centralia and Hannibal area the department has dealt with almost every year was spotted operating Tuesday along Business 54 in Fulton.
The crew was getting ready to prepare for an asphalt paving job when deputies noticed them.
"The Sheriff's Office," Akers said, "made contact with the crew. They did not have a city or county business license. They are the same people we have dealt with multiple times in the past. They were asked to leave the area and they did so without any argument."
