Hornets tennis team collects first victory

JEFFERSON CITY — Sparked by the senior quartet at the front end of its singles lineup, the Fulton Hornets tennis team obtained its first win of the season by downing Helias 6-3 on Wednesday.

Senior Josh Hurt blanked Helias’ Kirk Twehous 8-0 at No. 1 singles, while senior Scott Strough overpowered Caleb Seidel 8-1 at No. 2. Senior Trevor Steinbeck followed with an 8-0 triumph over the Crusaders’ Ethan Lesko at No. 3 singles, then senior Philip Barkho outlasted Jeremy Wolters at No. 4.
