In the race for Fulton's city council in the April 2 municipal elections, Ward IV is the only contested seat as incumbent Rick Shiverdecker hopes to defend his seat against newcomer Kathy Segerson.
Also running unopposed are current councilmen Wayne Chailland, Lowe Cannell and Richard Vaughn, representing wards I, II and III.

Current Ward IV councilman Shiverdecker is finishing up his first term, and said he was running because there was still unfinished work he felt he could accomplish for the city.
"With the sewer treatment plant and a few other things, I thought it would be a good idea to finish these," said Shiverdecker. "And I want to see a new rec center and a new swimming pool."
Shiverdecker counts the new police station and work on the fire stations as hallmarks of his short time on the council as well.
"That was a nice accomplishment; these are things the city desperately needed and I was glad to be able to help," he said.
