For their 13th year at the National Churchill Museum, the Missouri Watercolor Society's nationally-renowned art show is going international.
The Missouri Watercolor International, formerly the Missouri Watercolor National, will kick off for public viewing 10 a.m. April 1 at the museum. The exhibit will run until May 17, and a dessert reception and awards presentation will be held 1-3 p.m. April 7.
Missouri Watercolor Society Executive Director George "Papa" Tutt, who will emcee the reception and presentation, said the group's board decided to accept pieces from overseas due to the increased attention gained from the National Churchill Museum's fame.
"Churchill was not only a great leader and scholar and so forth, but he was also an artist. He was a fine painter," said Tutt. "While they celebrate other things in various ways, the reason we hold it there is we celebrate Churchill as the artist, so that's kind of why it's there and what we're doing there."
