New headliner booked for Street Fair

Patrons to hear the Pheasant Pluckers, Kansas City-based bluegrass act

The show will go on Saturday night at the Fulton Street Fair.

A new act, Kansas City-based bluegrass group the Pheasant Pluckers, will take The Callaway Bank Stage 8:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday.

The booking comes just two days after the original slated headliner, Joplin's The Ben Miller Band, pulled from the fair to tour Europe as ZZ Top's opening act.

Entertainment co-chair Julie Mobley said it was a mad dash to find a suitable replacement, but were able to find the act in short order through an acquaintance of co-chair Cindy Baker.

"She had a friend in Kansas City that knows (the Pheasant Pluckers), so she called them up and they happened to not have a gig on Saturday night," said Mobley. "They're high energy and very good entertainers, they are really outgoing."
