Three injured in weekend accidents

Three people were injured in weekend accidents in Callaway County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported William R. Wetherell, 60, Fulton, had minor injuries in an accident Friday on County Road 403 at Twitchell Lane in Callaway County.

The accident occurred at 10:30 a.m. Friday when a westbound 2001 Dodge 3500 pickup driven by Shawn P. Twitchell, 22, Fulton, pulled into the path of a northbound 1993 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Wetherell, the patrol reported.

Both vehicles had moderate damage from the collision.

Wetherell declined medical treatment at the scene of the accident, the patrol reported.

In a Sunday evening accident, two people had serious injuries when both were ejected from a motorcycle that crashed along I-70 at the Auxvasse Creek bridge.

The patrol reported Jerry D. Calvin, 70, Columbia, was driving a 2008 Honda motorcycle westbound on I-70 at 5:55 p.m. Sunday when the rear tire on the motorcycle failed, causing the motorcycle to overturn, ejecting Calvin and a passenger, Caroline M. Butler, 47, Columbia.

Both Calvin and Butler were transported by Callaway County Ambulance Service to University Hospital in Columbia.
