Cub Scout Pack 50 branches out with spaghetti fundraiser

Proceeds from dinner will provide more opportunities for young scouts

One of Callaway County's longest-running Cub Scout packs wants to feed the community something a little more substantial than popcorn.

Cub Scout Pack 50 is supplementing the traditional popcorn sales with its first spaghetti dinner fundraiser, 4:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 2, at Callaway Christian Church, 2051 South Silver Drive.

The meal will consist of spaghetti, salad, bread, drinks and dessert for $8 per adult, $5 per child ages 5-12 and free for children 4 and younger. Family tickets for two adults and their children costs $25.

Pack Committee Chair Scout Gibson said proceeds will go toward providing additional activities or assistance for scouts throughout the year.

"Typically the scout packs only sell popcorn, and we're kind of trying to supplement that a little bit this year to add some additional activities for our pack," Gibson said. "We were talking about being able to add some more activities that our pack provided over the course of the year, or possibly the pack covering the campout instead of asking families to pay for it or do other service projects."
