St. Louisians jailed after Mid-Missouri chase

Kyle Hopson of St. Louis celebrated his 20th birthday Wednesday by leading law enforcement officers on a wild chase through Callaway and Boone counties.

The chase involved Jefferson City Police, Callaway County Sheriff's Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Fulton Police, and Columbia Police.

Hopson was driving a green Dodge pickup Wednesday morning with Kendell Jones. 20, St. Louis as a passenger when Jefferson City Police tried to stop the vehicle after an accident was reported in Jefferson City.

A vehicle license check revealed the truck that failed to stop by pursuing police officers was reported stolen on Monday in St. Louis.

Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane said Hopson and Jones fled from Jefferson City Police into Callaway County.

"Callaway County received a call from Jefferson City Police at at 8:08 a.m. Wednesday and our deputies joined the chase," Crane said.

Callaway County deputies took over the chase at County Road 318 just south of Fulton. Assisting the pursuit was one police officer from the Fulton Police Department.
