Charges dropped in alleged Mo. shooting plot

TROY, Mo. (AP) - A 17-year-old boy accused of plotting a school shooting in northeast Missouri is no longer facing charges.

Lincoln County prosecutor Leah Askey said Monday she had dismissed the case against Blaine Michael Erp, who was scheduled to go on trial in Callaway County on Wednesday.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/15aatcP ) Askey said if Erp doesn't meet several requirements, she could refile charges anytime in the next three years.

Authorities said Erp, of Luck Farm Lane in rural Lincoln County, told his girlfriend last September about a plan to kill specific students at Troy-Buchanan High School. Troy is about 60 miles north of St. Louis.

Erp's girlfriend alerted school resource officers, who called police. The high school and two other schools were placed on lockdown briefly until Erp was arrested.
