Former Red Cross director tapped to head Fulton Housing Authority

The board of commissioners of the Fulton Housing Authority have announced Anne Johnson as the agency's new executive director.

Board chairman Don Woodson, who has served as interim director since Matt Kuhl left in February 2012, said the board received approximately 30 applicants for the position before narrowing the field down to five. He said the board is confident Johnson, former director of the Callaway County chapter of the Red Cross, will be a good fit.

"She's a very capable and confident and enthusiastic person that will understand the desires and mission of the Fulton Housing Authority and will help us implement and accomplish those goals," Woodson said. "We're really excited she's joined us in this capacity."

Johnson said serving as director of the housing authority appealed to her because "it will allow me to continue my passion for serving the community."

"I have 25-plus years in volunteer management and working with not-for-profit organizations," said Johnson, who also has served as program director at Kingdom Hospice as well as for the Girl Scouts. "This seemed like a perfect fit for me."
