Callaway Co. bank robbery suspect caught

A Jefferson City man believed to have robbed Bank Star One in New Bloomfield in October has been caught in San Antonio.

Gary Coleman, 49, was arrested Saturday on the warrant that was issued after the robbery occurred.

Details of how he was caught were not released, but authorities said he was being held in a Texas jail on $30,000 bond.

Coleman is charged with one count of second-degree robbery.

Callaway County Sheriff Dennis Crane said the airing of still images and security video from the robbery by local media gave them tips to determine Coleman was the suspect.

According to Crane, Coleman has two prior felony convictions: One in 1993 in Boone County for possession of a controlled substance and one in 1999 for forgery, also out of Boone County.
