Bank Star One hires new operations manager

James L. Smith has joined Bank Star One as the bank’s new assistant vice president and operations manager in Fulton.

Bank President Rick Meriage said Smith will manage all operations for the Fulton and New Bloomfield markets of the bank. Smith’s duties also will include managing some operations and policies in the bank’s Lake of the Ozarks market.

Meriage said Smith “is a great addition to our staff. His extensive background in area banking will be a valuable asset to Bank Star One as we continue to grow our business here.”

Before joining Bank Star One, Smith was employed for 17 years with Providence Bank in Jefferson City, formerly Premier Bank. Smith most recently served as the vice president and bank resource officer for Providence Bank.

A 1992 graduate of the University of Missouri, Smith has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy.

Active in civic and professional organizations, Smith has been a member of the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce and president of the Inter-County Bankers Association. He also served as chairman of the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Council for Drug Free Youth. He was president of the Kiwanis Club of Jefferson City and the United Way of Central Missouri. He continues to serve as an adult Sunday School teacher with Union Hill Baptist Church in Holts Summit. He also joined the Holts Summit Community Betterment Association, where he resides with his family.
