During the current session of the Missouri General Assembly that opened Wednesday, Rep. Jeanie Riddle, R-Mokane, will continue to be a legislative leader and will be appointed as chairman of an important committee that considers all legislation introduced.
Riddle said she will be named by House Speaker Tim Jones, R-Eureka, as chairman of the powerful House Rules Committee. She also will be a member of the Utilities Committee, which normally receives bills relating to the Callaway Energy Center.
"Certainly the people living in my district have an interest in the operation of the Ameren Missouri nuclear plant," Riddle said.
She also has served as assistant majority floor leader in the House.
Riddle not only will be named as a member of the powerful Rules Committee but also will also have the coveted role of chairman of the committee.
The House Rules Committee establishes operating rules for the House. All bills approved by various House committees must be sent to the Rules Committee before the measure can be passed on to the speaker to be placed on the House calendar for debate.
"It's an honor to be a member of the committee," Riddle said.
