David West has been selected as the recipient of the 2013 Kingdom Supper's Settler Award.

After more than five decades of learning, living and giving in Callaway County, New Bloomfield resident Dave West now is being honored for his contributions to the community he has adopted as home.

West will receive the Settler's Award at the 108th Kingdom of Callaway Supper March 12 at William Woods University.

In a press release from the Kingdom Supper Committee, longtime friend Gracia Backer said that, "although he's considered a "settler', Dave's heart and soul are composed of Callaway spirit, service and dedication.

"It's very difficult to put into words the positive impact he has had on so many lives in Callaway County, but he has done so all in his quiet, thoughtful and gentle manner," Backer said.

Mike Basnett, who chaired the Settler's Award Committee, said that is why the committee settled upon West as this year's recipient.
