The Callaway County Ambulance District’s shift supervisors and board members both enjoyed good news at their regular meeting Tuesday.
Ambulance District Director Charlie Anderson gave a positive update on the status of their Geo-Comm vehicle tracking system, which has been plagued with struggles and setbacks over the past two years, while the board also approved position descriptions for relief shift supervisors, which will give on-call shift supervisors more flexibility in scheduling vacation time.
Although the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office backed out of the deal with Geo-Comm over the series of issues, the Ambulance Board had voted to stay with the project at their previous meeting. Anderson said a script that Geo-Comm installed on the devices caused them to reboot automatically if they enter an error state for more than five minutes, which resolved any major problems.
“Over the last three or four weeks we’ve been testing that, and noticed the vehicles were tracking like they’re supposed to be,” said Anderson. “We’re moving forward and we’re satisfied with where we’re at.
