A new dental clinic plans to open in Fulton in about two months.

The new dental clinic will be funded mainly with federal funds through the Community Health Center of Central Missouri, a federally-qualified health center based in Jefferson City.

Callaway County Presiding Commissioner Gary Jungermann said he met with officials of the center recently to discuss the new dental clinic.

Jungermann said the new Callaway County dental clinic will be located on the north end of a free-standing building complex in the Fulton Commons Shopping Center in Fulton. The Koelling Family Chiropractic office is located on the south end of the same free-standing building complex inside the shopping center.

Workmen have started to finish the interior of the new building and plan to have it ready for occupancy in mid-April, Jungermann said.

Jungermann said the center will be a bargain for Callaway County because the Community Health Center of Central Missouri is financed mainly by federal funds.

Jungermann said the dental clinic has set a goal of opening in mid-April and a grand opening set in May.

At first the clinic will be open three days a week with the hope of expanding to five days a week if demand for services is sufficient.

All patients will be accepted at the clinic. Charges for dental services will be based on the annual income of patients and the number of people in the patient's family. Insurance also will be accepted.

The Fulton dental clinic will operate as a branch of the Jefferson City-based Community Health Center of Central Missouri. It provides complete dental services, including preventative care, fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns, bridges and dentures.

Jungermann said Community Health Center officials told him the center eventually hopes to expand in the future and also provide family physician services as well as dental services in Callaway County.

The Community Health Center of Central Missouri, based at 3400 W. Truman Blvd. in Jefferson City, is a not-for-profit corporation that has been designated as a federally qualified health center. It also operates a branch office in Linn to provide primary and preventative medical care as well as dental and mental health services to Osage County residents.

The Community Health Center of Central Missouri also provides dental care services to Moniteau County with a clinic in California, Mo., that operates on Thursday and Friday each week.
