Lady Blue Jays stay on fast track

Senior guard Kenna Cornelson scored 12 of her team-high 16 points in the second half and the Westminster College Lady Blue Jays remained on a roll with their 58-52 SLIAC home victory over Greenville (Ill.) College on Wednesday night.

The win was the seventh in a row for Westminster, which improved to 13-9 on the season and maintained a firm grip on first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 12-1 mark. The Lady Blue Jays swept their season series with Greenville (10-11, 5-7).

The Lady Panthers — who trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half — made it 53-50 on Jamie Schollenbruch’s basket with 1 minute, 6 seconds to play. Westminster, though, sealed the win by hitting 5-of-6 free throws in the final :17.
