For six years, Jolie Justus represented her Kansas City neighbors in the Missouri Senate. Thanks to redistricting, the District 10 senator now represents Callaway, Audrain, Lincoln, Monroe, Montgomery and Warren counties in the state legislature.

Callaway residents will have the opportunity to meet Justus, a Democrat, during a meet and greet session from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Feb. 7 at the Kingdom of Callaway Chamber of Commerce. Justus also will spend Feb. 7 and 8 touring the county.

"We just wanted to bring her in and share our wonderful county with her," said Chamber Director Claudia Starr. "We're excited she can be here."

For her part, Justus - who was first elected to the District 10 seat in 2006 - said she is looking forward to developing a better picture of some of her new constituents, although she has been a part-time resident of Callaway for some time.

"It's just a coincidence, but I've actually been a property owner in Callaway County for six years," Justus said, noting she stays in her home just outside Holts Summit when the senate is in session. "I want to make sure I get to know everyone and reach out to the community."
