The Callaway Singers community choir once again invites area residents to enjoy a night of live music to get them into the holiday spirit and ready for the “Magic of Winter”.
Due to the popularity of last year’s concert — standing room only — there will be two performances this year: 7 p.m. Thursday and 2 p.m. Dec. 15, both in Dulany Auditorium on the William Woods University campus.
Director Marlene Railton described this year’s program as eclectic, and longtime choir members Cathy Woodson and Tom Clapp said there is something to appeal to everyone.
“It’s a wonderful mix of holiday music, a little mix of everything. It’s a combination of secular and non-secular songs,” Clapp said, adding that the performers themselves are what always make the holiday concert special.
“It’s a wonderful mix of Callaway County personalities in this choir,” he said. “I’m looking forward to being with the people and the personalities in the group, and the group sound — there’s something special about 60 voices blending together as a chorus.”
Woodson agreed that “it’s not just about the music, it’s about the fun and the chemistry we have as a group.”
“The concert is just going to be fabulous,” Woodson said. “I think anybody that comes will enjoy it, and it will really set the mood for the season.”
