The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats forced the Smithton Lady Tigers to submit.
Second-seeded New Bloomfield outscored No. 7 Smithton 34-12 in the second half of Tuesday night's 56-29 runaway triumph in the first round of the 75th-annual Tipton Tournament.
The Lady Wildcats carried a slight 22-17 advantage into halftime, but took control by imposing their defensive will over the final 16 minutes. New Bloomfield outscored Smithton 17-6 in the third quarter to widen its lead to 39-23 entering the fourth quarter, then duplicated that production by outscoring the Lady Tigers 17-6 again over the last 8 minutes in breezing to the comfortable win.
