Portions of Callaway 2 Water District under voluntary boil advisory

Due to a leak in a water main, the Callaway 2 Water District has issued a voluntary boil advisory for portions of their service area.

The advisory covers County Road 305 between State Roads H and F, County Road 306 and County Road 308. Affected subdivisions are Cedar Oaks, Stonehaven, Laurlake and Oak Grove.

After water pressure returns, water for consumption in drinking, brushing teeth or food preparation should be boiled for three minutes prior to use for a period of 48 hours after the pressure returns. Infants, elderly and people with compromised immune systems may be especially at risk.

There may be some discoloration of water due to iron deposits being stirred up during flushing and trapped air in mains. Avoid doing laundry during this time if possible.

Water District Office Manager Janice Meyer said that as of 1 p.m. Wednesday, water pressure was back on. She noted that the advisory was voluntary, and separate from a boil order issued by the Department of Natural Resources.
