Owls sweep No. 16 Lyon, stretch winning streak to 11 games

The William Woods University Owls baseball team continued to move the needle forward on its winning streak.

Senior center fielder Greg Hamrock scored the winning run on junior right fielder Matt Thomas’ fielder’s choice with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, sending William Woods to a 2-1 victory over No. 16 Lyon (Ark.) College on Friday at Owls Field.

In the nightcap of the American Midwest Conference doubleheader, junior Zach Nichols — playing center field — hit a three-run home run to cap off a 10-run outburst in the first inning as the Owls completed a sweep with a 12-5 romp.
