Nominations sought for Lifesaver Awards

May 1 is the deadline for submitting nominations for a Lifesaver Award from the American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter, which includes Callaway and 20 other Central Missouri counties.

"People or groups who save a life or do lifesaving work don't generally seek attention," said Nancy Sell, the Lifesaver Awards project manager.

That's why it is so important, Sell said, for individuals to nominate someone who deserves the award.

"This program gives recognition to those who genuinely deserve it," Sell said.

Nominations can come from any of the 21 counties included in the Heart of Missouri Red Cross chapter. The counties included in the chapter are Callaway, Audrain, Cole, Boone, Montgomery, Osage, Moniteau, Morgan, Miller, Camden, Maries, Pulaski, Phelps, Crawford, Dent, Cooper, Howard, Saline, Carroll, Randolph, and Chariton.

The eight categories in the Lifesaver Awards program are: Good Samaritan, Youth, Blood Services, Military, Medical, Law Enforcement, Firefighter, and Emergency Medical Services.
