Thunderbirds, Ladybirds dominate titles at MSD Invite

North Callaway made it a matching pair of titles.

Seniors Zac Eads and Ryan Pezold, junior David Jones and sophomore Steven Coleman each won events Thursday to help carry the Thunderbirds to the boys' team championship at the 26th-annual Missouri School for the Deaf Invitational.

Meanwhile, juniors Baylie Borman, Jaida Gray and Maddie Sorell also posted first-place finishes and the Ladybirds followed suit by securing the girls' team title.

The North Callaway boys logged 128 points to fend off second-place Linn (115.5). Chamois followed in third place with 99 points, Missouri Military Academy was fourth (52.5), Paris fifth (46), MSD sixth (38), Prairie Home seventh (23), and New Franklin eighth (21). Calvary Lutheran took ninth (14), New Bloomfield and Wellsville tied for 10th (12 apiece), Pilot Grove was 12th (6), and Jamestown and Community R-6 shared 13th (4 apiece).
