Two fresh faces join South Callaway school board

The upcoming South Callaway R-II School District Board of Education will have two freshman board members serving three-year terms following Tuesday's elections.

Todd Mealy earned a seat with a resounding 228 votes, with Heidi Powers following up with 116. Powers narrowly edged out former board member Erin Rogers Howard by just four votes, while Mealy and Powers ousted current board member Susan Ward, who earned 62 votes.

"It'll be a learning process for both of us," said Mealy," but I feel like we're both open-minded and I feel like it will work out well."

Both victors thanked the South Callaway community for the votes of support.
