Drug take back day set in Callaway County

Callaway County residents with outdated and unwanted drugs will have an opportunity from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to dispose of them properly by bringing them to either of two locations in the county.

One location will be at the office of Callaway County Water District No. 2 in Fulton. This location at the intersection of Westminster Avenue and St. Eunice Road will be manned by representatives of the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.

The second location will be at the Grand Prairie Baptist Church in downtown Auxvasse located at the intersection of Main and Harrison streets. This location will be manned by representatives of the Auxvasse Police Department and the Auxvasse Lions Club.

The countywide effort is part of the national drug take back program.

To prevent contamination of ground water, area residents are urged not to dispose of unwanted, and expired prescription and over-the-counter drugs by tossing them in the garbage or flushing them down the drain.

Instead, they can be assured they will be disposed of properly if brought to the drug take back effort.
