SERVE seeks supporters for Adopt A Family

Still accepting applications from families

SERVE, Inc. is once again asking Callaway County area residents for help in making the holidays a little merrier for local families who need help making Christmas happen.

SERVE is accepting applications for the 2012 Adopt-A-Family program - which helps provide food and presents for the holidays - through Oct. 26, and with 100 families and an estimated 300 children already enrolled, organizers are looking for individuals, groups and businesses to serve as sponsors.

"It just seems like this year of all years, people are just kind of down. This is going to be a hard year for everyone," said Julie Roark, director of SERVE's Callaway Action Network. "I'm concerned for our families in need as well as people who support our program."

Citing a still-uncertain economy and rising costs of everything from groceries to clothing, she said she is hoping that a little bit of support from a lot of people will help Adopt-A-Family meet the need for this year's program.
