Everyone has that one task or chore they just don't have the time, the energy or the will to get done, be it picking up the dry-cleaning, taking the dog for a walk or raking that monster pile of leaves.
That is the main premise behind Cindy Baker's new business, Errand Runners.
Baker said the idea came out of a conversation with friends.
"We spend a lot of our time doing these things for friends and family, so we decided there must be a need," said Baker. "One of my friends said, "Somebody needs to do this.'"
After nine years of selling Real Estate in Fulton, Baker said she also was simply ready for a change.
"I wanted to do something to help," she said. "This seemed like a good way to scratch out a living, help and do something I feel good about."
Baker said she already has helped a number of clients over the past several weeks.
"We helped pack a household for a move, we got a call to walk a dog while they are out of town and we changed the batteries in smoke detectors for a couple of older women," Baker said. "We've gotten a good response so far."
Baker's base rate for services is $20 per hour, but that rate drops to $15 per hour if clients purchase a block of time. There also are packages available such as the senior assistance package, which provides eight hours per month for $140.
